President – Paul Seim

Paul Seim is self employed as a General Contractor licensed in Washington and Oregon. 

“Previously I have worked as a Facilities Manager for first a laboratory and then a biopharmaceuticals manufacturer.  In these jobs, I had a variety of responsibilities from lease negotiations to space planning and construction management.  I believe that my background in management can bring organization and direction to our neighborhood as we face the challenges of potential flooding and construciton.”

Vice-President – Sharon Bersaas
Lives on: Jason Ave N

Sharon Bersaas has lived in the Mill Creek Neighborhood at 436 Jason Ave N. since 1992. Her husband is Michael Johnson and together they have a blended family of 6 grown children and 4 Grand Children. She enjoys working with our community group and being a Block Watch Captain and co-chair with Ngocdzung Smith.

In 1969, Sharon helped with other liked minded women to start a Daycare Co-op for children birth to 5 years. She was asked to sit on the board of Neighborhood House as a representative of the newly formed Child care Co-op. Neighborhood House was a social service agency in Portland Oregon. She worked in the preschool for a few years and then ran their Day Camp and after school program for children 6-12.

After she moved to Washington, she went back to school and graduated with a bachelors degree from Evergreen State college in l989. She began working for the Tacoma School District as Security Officer at Stadium High School. Sharon worked for nine years at Stadium retiring at age 55 ten years ago.

Secretary – Stacey Kroeze
Lives on: E Temperance St

Stacey is a native born Washingtonian and has called the Mill Creek Neighborhood home since 2002.  She enjoys being active with gardening, hiking, rock climbing, snowboarding and riding her motorcycle. 
 
Stacey has a great career that allows her to work from home.  She works with clients to reduce stress, recover from injuries, and increase their range of motion and flexibility.  She is a Licensed Massage Practitioner and has been working with the mind, body, and soul for over 10 years.
 
“Since the neighborhood council and the block watch were formed in 2007 our neighborhood has become very close knit.  I want that feeling to continue and I think the best way to do that is to help out in the community.  It’s the time and dedication of all the officers that have kept this going and I feel like it’s my turn to give back.  I feel blessed to live in such a caring and friendly neighborhood and call so many of my neighbors friends.” – Stacey Kroeze

Treasurer – Michael Johnson
Lives on: Jason Ave N

Michael has lived at his Jason Avenue address in the Mill creek neighborhood since 1990. Two of his children attended Kent Junior High and Kent Meridian. He has lived in the city of Kent since 1972.

Michael Johnson is married to Sharon Bersaas. He graduated with a B. S. Physics from U. of Washington in 1964 and a M. S. Physics from UCLA in 1967. Retired from the Boeing Company in 2004 after 38 years, Michael ended his career as Engineering Manager of a Modeling & Simulation Group. The majority of his engineering career was spent in Guidance and Navigation specialty. He spent 18 years on Cruise Missile programs and ended up as Chief Engineer and Deputy Program Manager for the programs. For many years in the late 70′s and 80′s, Michael served as the Finance Chair for Kent Des-Moines Unitarian Universalist Church. He is the current President of two Boeing Golf Leagues and is the current Treasurer of Mill Creek Neighborhood Council. His hobbies include Golf, golf, golf, management and tracking of Stock Market portfolio system, yard maintenance and projects, and reading mystery novels.

“I think it is important for these community neighborhoods to prosper as entities and provide a valuable interface to the City for every homeowner in the Neighborhood. We have already demonstrated in several cases that as a Neighborhood, we can have a bigger voice in the civic affairs that directly impact our Neighborhood. I am willing to continue to give my time and energy as an Officer for the Neighborhood to help make this succeed.” – Michael Johnson
